20 tips to treat mum for Mother’s Day


While I’m of the belief that every day should be Mother’s Day, here are some ideas for celebrating this special day. Here’s 20 ideas to spoil and celebrate your mum, mother-in-law or nana on Mother’s Day.

  1. Make her breakfast in bed.

  2. Buy flowers for mum or plant some flowers to bloom later in the year.

  3. Enjoy a family picnic in the park.

  4. Buy her a book by her favourite author.

  5. Make her a handmade Mother’s Day card.

  6. Play board games or video games together and let her win.

  7. Make a donation to her favourite charity in her name. Send Hope, Not Flowers is an organisation which aims to reduce the maternal mortality rate in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.

  8. Let her sleep in on Sunday morning.

  9. Have a dance-off or karaoke session together.

  10. Take her to lunch or dinner at her favourite cafe or restaurant.

  11. Take lots of selfies with her.

  12. Serenade her with a special song (not ‘Let It Go’).

  13. Buy her favourite wine or chocolates.

  14. Go for a family walk together.

  15. Have a tea party at home with some yummy cakes and tea.

  16. Make her a homemade gift (plenty of inspiration on Pinterest).

  17. Give her hugs and kisses.

  18. Clean the house so she doesn’t have to.

  19. Take her to the movies and let her pick out her film.
