Kids birthday party trends that are hot right now

While I still love a low-key kids party with the traditional musical chairs and homemade cupcakes in the backyard, it’s fun to step it up a notch for your children’s birthday. Instead of bringing out the usual fairy bread and pass-the-parcel, why not celebrate in style with some of these seriously cool party trends.

Balloon installations

I’ve talked about this trend before, and this trend isn’t just for adult parties, baby showers and kitchen teas. Bring the ‘wow factor’ to your kids party with a balloon installation. Tie them into one of the themes below, such as bright colours and neon. Deck out the party with a focal point of balloon and floral garlands, jumbo orb balloons, or metallics. This is a sure-fire way to to create an impact without the high budget.

Colour & Neon

Pastels and neutral colour palettes have been the go-to colour schemes for young kids’ parties for a few years now, but we’re starting to see a shift towards eye-popping, bright color palettes this year. The brighter the better! Be even more on-trend for an older kid’s party with the neon trend. Swap out your bulbs for black lights, pump the latest tunes, and hand out glow sticks to really get the party started. You could also let the kids decorate white tees with glow-in-the-dark fabric paint. A tween dream!

Glamping

Kids glamping parties aren’t anything new, but this trend is not going anywhere soon. These parties are gaining more and more demand. The glamping option is an indulgent styled boutique sleepover party which involves indoor tents, and is often styled with a beautiful boho feel. It’s a greatreat option for girls. For the boys I’m loving the idea of a camp out! This involves an 'old school' outdoor camping setup that lets the kids enjoy a night under the stars in the safety of your own backyard.

Slime Parties

If you’ve got kids, you’ll be fully aware that slime is all the rage right now! So you know that a slime party is going to put a smile on their faces! Kids can make the slime themselves which, of course, is half the fun. Google is full of slime recipes for you to follow, or you can have 'slime party experts' come to your house. They provide the slime and you provide the space. If your kids think, nothing is more fabulous than pouring a bucket of slime over their friends' heads Nickelodeon style, then this is the party for them!

Monochrome Party

Monochrome is hot on the party circuit at the moment, and is great applied different themes like zebras or pandas or even Star Wars. Balloons are part of the fun of a monochrome party – keep an eye out for special balloons like black and white marble swirl balloons, spotted balloons, confetti balloons or even some silver for a touch of metallic fun.

When it comes to integrating any of these trends into your kids party, use Google and Pinterest to get more inspiration. And if you want someone to come up with the plan, gather all the event hire equipment and supplies, coordinate catering, and style it to make your kids eyes pop, call Lisa, and arrange a free consultation.
